THE U-TURN: Stoplights in Penobscot?
CUTBACKS: A dog and its owner wait to pass a tree-cutting operation along Penobscot’s Western County Road on Sept. 19. The Maine Department of Transportation has been cutting back the roadside vegetation for two weeks, some of which had been hanging over the pavement in spots before work began. The work has reduced small sections of the road to one-way traffic regulated by temporary stoplights (below) during the week. As of Oct. 1, both sides of the road had been cut back from Southern Bay Road to almost the Penobscot/Blue Hill town line. Photos by John Boit.
