Help us keep The Rising Tide free to all

The Rising Tide launched this fall with a simple idea: People on the Blue Hill Peninsula deserve local news they don’t have to get through a paywall to read. Since then, our small team has been covering town government, schools, businesses, the arts and everyday life across our rural, vibrant, and diverse corner of Maine.​

In December, we’re asking for your help to keep that going. Our goal is to raise $10,000 by the end of the year so we can continue providing free, independent reporting and cover our communities even more in 2026. Every dollar goes directly into the work: paying reporters, editing stories, and keeping the website running. As an all-virtual team, not a single penny goes toward expensive overhead such as offices.​

And here’s even more good news: Every dollar you give will be matched by an anonymous donor, up to $5,000!

Plus, as a thank you, anyone who gives a new donation of $100 or more by December 31 will receive a free Rising Tide hat!

The Rising Tide has applied for recognition as a tax-exempt public charity under Internal Revenue Code § 501(c)(3).
