Heart-shaped sculptures appear along shore in Blue Hill
COLD HEARTS, WARM LOVE—These sculptures have appeared in South Blue Hill, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Photo by Steele Hays.

BLUE HILL—Drivers along Route 175 over the Mill Pond causeway in South Blue Hill recently, may have noticed these heart-shaped pieces of ice, which have been propped up vertically in the snow along the shore.
These pieces of ice have formed naturally into heart shapes as a result of swirling tides and changing temperatures, and people have "improved" some of them further into other shapes. Some residents have said the frozen shapes remind them of gravestones, but since it's far closer to Valentine's Day than Halloween, we prefer to think of them as warm hearts, cold though they may be.
