On Wednesday, February 11 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m., everyone is invited to the Blue Hill Public Library for a parenting/caregiver workshop on interrupting a screen-based childhood with Tara McKernan and Andrea Howell from Echo Consulting. Targeted to parents/caregivers of children ages birth-10, this workshop will explore research around play and screen based childhoods and the impact on children. Participants will learn strategies to navigate fostering independence, encouraging free play, and helping kids to have a healthy relationship with technology, questions are welcome. Andrea Howell, M.Ed., is an experienced educator who has specialized in working with children and families for over 30 years. Tara McKernan, M.Ed, LCPC is a local therapist who runs a private practice at The Counseling Collaborative, and for 24 years worked as a school counselor and special education teacher. This program is free and cosponsored by the library and Echo Consulting. Childcare will be provided at this event for children in Pre-K and up who are potty-trained - registration is required.
