THE U-TURN: Governor welcomes students, historical society welcomes President

LEGISLATIVE LEARNING—The fourth grade class from the Blue Hill Consolidated School had a field trip to the State House in Augusta, where they had a photo op with Gov. Janet Mills, Sen. Nicole Grohoski and Rep. Nina Milliken. “The 4th grade from BHCS comes every year and for me, it's the best day of the year,” Milliken told The Rising Tide.

SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED—Kate McMahon, executive director of the Castine Historical Society, sits with a newly acquired document signed by President Thomas Jefferson. The document, which bestowed customs powers to a local resident in 1802, was purchased by a group of funders from an auction house and donated to the organization, as reported in The Rising Tide last month.
