‘Boo! Hill’ to feature haunted house, local business treats
By staff
Blue Hill–The town of Blue Hill, local businesses, and George Stevens Academy are coming together to host “Welcome to Boo! Hill,” a Halloween evening for kids on Oct. 31.
The Town of Blue Hill, the Blue Hill Small Business Collaborative and the Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will host Welcome Boo! Hill, a family-friendly Halloween event in Blue Hill. The event takes place 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 31, providing “trick-or-treating at local businesses, crafts, and community connection in a safe, welcoming environment,” according to a press release.
The evening will feature a Stranger Things-themed haunted house at George Stevens Academy hosted by the freshman class. Participating businesses will have signs posted out front, and there will be a corresponding map for families to use as they roam throughout town on Halloween.
Blue Hill businesses will be open late, while others set up booths, offering games, candy and surprises for children.
The evening includes popcorn, hot cocoa and children’s crafts on the town hall lawn, as well as a storefront decorating contest for logical businesses.
Children may also head to the Blue Hill Public Library for “Trick or Read” to choose a book for free.
The Blue Hill Co-op will keep its hot meal service open until 5 pm, and will be giving out candy, carrots, and apples to kids in costume throughout the day.
Businesses or individuals interested in participating, sponsoring, or volunteering can email bluehillsmallbusiness@gmail.com or chamber@bluehillpeninsula.org.
Local businesses may also donate candy for the evening. Candy may be dropped off at THE Salon in downtown Blue Hill until Oct. 30.
