BLUE HILL — George Stevens Academy’s 2025-26 National Honor Society is partnering with Juniper, a local clothing boutique, to host a free prom shopping event for local students at the store on April 18.

“Last year was our first year organizing [the event], and it was a total hit. Truly a community collaboration, and just a joyful event,” said Juniper owner Amanda Woog in a press release. “I’m excited to do it all over again.”

Ahead of the event, GSA students are collecting donations of clean, gently used formalwear.

“We would love it if everyone could help us by donating unwanted or unused prom attire […] so we can give our high school community the best prom possible,” said GSA junior and “Prom Closet Exchange Coordinator” Layla Hutchins in the release. Organizers are looking for gently used dresses, suits, heels, shoes, and ties and will accept donations at the academy through April 17.

The Blue Chill is sponsoring the event, the release said, and will be providing free popsicles during the afternoon of free shopping.

“We love this event,” said Chris Gleason, owner of the Blue Chill who is also a GSA parent and board member. “Free shopping and free pops—what could be better?”

The prom shopping event will take place on April 18 from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at Juniper, located at 27 Water Street in Blue Hill.
