STONINGTON–The Stonington Public Library will host three free workshops for kids during the April school vacation week.

On Tuesday, April 21, participants will build and decorate butterfly kites. This workshop is geared toward the youngest kite enthusiasts, and the only skills needed are the ability to use scissors, tape, and “tie a few knots,” the library said in a press release.

On Wednesday, April 22, participants will learn how to build their own simple electric motor using basic materials. Participants will learn about magnets, electricity and how motors work.

On Thursday, April 23, the library will help participants build delta kites, one of the most reliable flyers, with a simple triangular design.

All events will begin at 10 a.m. and last approximately one hour. Space is limited, so please call 207-367-5926 or email stonington.public.library@gmail.com to sign up. All workshops are free and donations are welcome, the release said.

The events are made possible through the support of local companies that have donated supplies, including the Island Employee Cooperative, Burnt Cove Market, The Galley, and V&S Variety.
