BLUE HILL– Bagaduce Music, which launched 30 years ago, has been a place where musicians from all over the world come to play, bringing their melodies and talents to the Blue Hill Peninsula. But with that invitation comes the persistent issue of housing.

Now the nonprofit music organization decided to turn some of their former office spaces into rooms to house their guests–rooms that are also available for the general public.

“Bagaduce House,” offering four rooms, each with two to three twin beds, feels more like a hostel, with a community bathroom, an outdoor shower for summer use and a small kitchenette for basic needs. But with the rooms going for $97 per night or less, depending on length of stay, it may be one of the area’s least expensive lodging options.

Fittingly, each room is named after musical notes such as D major, C minor and A#, and all are decorated with music-related posters, and local artwork.

“It’s a great space for musicians and travelers,” said Kristen Spalding, a development assistant with the organization.

The rooms are in a separate building on the Bagaduce Music campus on South Street in Blue Hill. Visitors can access a patio and shared gardens with handicap-accessible trails. Spalding said the campus’ central location provides easy access to local restaurants and shops while still being within reach of attractions farther afield in Bar Harbor, Stonington and Castine.

“It’s an amazing location.” Spalding said.

Bagaduce House is available year round and is listed on AirBnB with rental options ranging from a night, a week or month.
