GSA names five to Athletic Hall of Fame

Former state champions, college athletes, coaches and community leaders make the list

BLUE HILL—George Stevens Academy has announced its 2026 Athletic Hall of Fame class, honoring five alumni whose achievements span athletics, coaching, military service, education and community leadership.

The GSA Athletic Hall of Fame was established to recognize alumni “whose contributions to sport, character, and community reflect the values of the school and its Eagles tradition,” according to a press release. The inductees will be recognized at a ceremony on June 7 at the school at 1 p.m.

This year's class includes graduates from 1979 through 2017 and features former state champions, college athletes, coaches and community leaders. Brothers Seth Cole and Toby Cole, members of GSA's 1997 state championship baseball team, are among the honorees.

The 2026 inductees are:

Larry Gray was a 1979 state basketball champion.

Lawrence "Larry" Gray—Class of 1979, Gray was a standout athlete in soccer, basketball, baseball and track. Gray was a member of GSA's 1979 state championship basketball team and later returned to coach girls varsity basketball and tennis. During his coaching career, he recorded more than 100 victories in both sports and led GSA's tennis program to a state championship and several Northern Maine titles.

Seth Cole—Class of 1997, Cole helped lead the Eagles to their first state baseball championship and was selected as a Maine Senior All-Star. At Saint Michael's College, he set the program's career runs-scored record and later served as head baseball coach and sports information director. Cole also coached baseball at Traip Academy and remains active in youth sports and officiating.

Toby Cole—Class of 2000, Cole, excelled in baseball, basketball and golf and was named a McDonald's All-Star and Penobscot Valley Conference Class C Baseball Player of the Year. After a collegiate baseball career at Springfield College, he built a career in education and youth development. He currently serves as regional director for Jobs for Maine's Graduates and was named the 2020 Veterans of Foreign Wars Maine High School Teacher of the Year.

Sarah Clapp—Class of 2002, Clapp captained GSA's soccer, basketball and softball teams and helped lead the school to multiple Eastern Maine championships and a Class B basketball title. A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, she competed in Division I cross country and track while earning her degree. Clapp is now a command pilot with more than 3,100 flight hours, including more than 1,500 combat hours over eight deployments. On June 1, she assumed command of the 101st Air Refueling Wing of the Maine Air National Guard.

Morgan Dauk—Class of 2017, Dauk was a four-sport athlete who earned recognition as a Miss Maine Basketball finalist, McDonald's All-Star and three-time Class C state champion in the javelin. At Williams College, she won multiple New England Small College Athletic Conference track and field championships and set the school's women's javelin record. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in physician associate studies at the University of Utah.
