Fans cheer GSA with car horns in tough Washington Academy game

BLUE HILL—George Stevens Academy faced Washington Academy in a challenging playoff game that had the crowd coming from all over and honking their car horns after goals. The game ultimately led to a win for the visiting team, but not without a spirited answer from the Eagles and their fans.
The first half of the Oct. 30 game looked promising for GSA, when junior Jack Carson took the first goal of the game. The team played great defense in the first half. Washington Academy tried to answer on defense, but couldn't prevent a second goal from Malcolm Paige. So far, things were looking good for the GSA soccer fans and families that had gathered to support the home team in this playoff game in immense numbers.
Washington Academy upped their offense and, after a series of kicks, blocks, and falls, scored a goal. The excitement boosted the confidence of Washington Academy, but it didn’t stop Carson from scoring again. The goal ramped up the crowd’s excitement.
As the second half of the game rolled along, so did Washington Academy’s goals. Their offense grew in confidence, scoring four goals in a row. At this point, it was a race to the finish with the score 5-3 with Washington Academy leading. Carson came in once again with yet another goal, just as the clock ran out. After an exhilarating game, Washington Academy took the win 5 to 4.
