Photographers warned: Stop climbing on Deer Isle bridge

Arrest and incident reports are collected from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies. Arrests are not convictions, and all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Blue Hill

A call was received about a person trespassing on Oct. 29. Upon arrival both parties were located. The complainant did not want charges pursued. The party was moved along and warned.

Michael Jacobs, 26, of Isle Au Haut was unable to avoid a collision with a deer on Oct. 29, causing reportable damage to the rear passenger side of the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

A trespassing complaint was received on Oct. 31 from a private business. on Nov. 2. Two  Blue Hill residents were issued no trespass warnings.

A vehicle operated by a minor with two passengers, also minors, was operating at excessive speeds for the road conditions on Oct. 31. The vehicle lost traction on a corner and left the road. The vehicle suffered major damage. The driver and occupants did not sustain any injuries.

Ryan Morey, 37, of Deer Isle was arrested on Nov. 1 after a traffic stop and charged with operating a vehicle while revoked (Habitual Offender) and operating under the influence (Class C).

Deer Isle 

Lori Connor, 65, of Deer Isle struck a telephone pole on Oct. 24. Police reported the accident was caused by sun glare. The collision caused minor damage to the front passenger side. The vehicle’s airbags deployed. The driver was not injured.

A multiple vehicle crash was reported on Nov. 1 on the North Deer Isle Road. James Jones, 60, of Stonington was arrested for operating under the influence and driving to endanger. . All occupants involved in the crash were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On Nov. 2, a complaint was received of two males climbing the Deer Isle bridge. Police found out the men are photographers and told them not to climb the bridge.

Shannon Gray, 42, of Deer Isle was arrested for an active warrant. She was transported to the Hancock County Jail without incident.

Sedgwick

A well-being check was requested on Oct 31 for Benjamin Scott, 62 of Sedgwick. As a result of the investigation Scott was located and determined to be deceased. Scott appeared to die of natural causes.

Orland

Jerald Markley, 79, of Penobscot struck a deer on Oct. 30 and sustained minor damage to the vehicle.

A wounded owl was found on Oct. 31, the owl was secured and transported to someone who will facilitate its care.

Vicky Moon, 64, of Penobscot struck a deer with her vehicle on Nov. 1. The vehicle sustained functional damage.

Penobscot

Chloe Perkins, 36, of Brooksville, suffered a suspension error with her vehicle on Oct. 29, causing it to be uncontrollable, police said. The vehicle went off the roadway on the right side, struck a hill, then re-entered the roadway and rolled over. The vehicle sustained major damage and was towed due to disabling damage. The driver was uninjured.
