CASTINE—Witherle Memorial Library will feature a new book this month as part of The Castine Community StoryWalk, according to a press release.
May’s featured book is The Moon Seed by Sally Anne Garden. The story “reimagines the real events following the Apollo 14 mission, when an astronaut brought a bag of seeds into space,” the release said. The narrative follows one of those seeds that, “once back on Earth, still longs to return to the moon.” The release said that the book’s “illustrations add a gentle, magical feel to the story.”
A Take & Make project that accompanies the story is available at the Witherle Memorial Library.
Located at the corner of Court and Spring streets, the StoryWalk consists of up to 20 locations along a groomed trail which loops back to the starting point, the release said. Each location is a page from a story. Stories change monthly from April until December.
The StoryWalk is open from dawn until dusk. Parking is permitted near the entrance, and the library asks that visitors “please respect the privacy of the abutting properties.”
The StoryWalk was created through the efforts of the library, the Town of Castine, the Castine Garden Club, the Adams School, and the Wilson Museum, and was funded through a Home Town grant from T-Mobile.
