CASTINE–Gallery b. will host a monthlong exhibition of small paintings, the sixth year the show has been launched.
The show—”Art For Right Now”—includes more than 60 artists from the greater Blue Hill peninsula and across North America, according to a press release. Works are limited to two specific sizes and set at two different prices. New work drops weekly online between November 22 and December 19.
“This event has come to mean so much to so many people. Our customers and the community love being able to collect work from artists whose work might normally be a bit out of reach,” said gallery owner and artist Goody-B Wiseman.
“I love that this little online event that we cooked up during the initial shutdowns from COVID-19 now has a devoted cult following that grows with every year. It’s exciting and beautiful. You never know which artist will pop up in the show, and you can’t imagine the breadth of incredible works that will show up throughout the month. It’s a feast for the eyes, a joy to behold, a gift to the community, and a big help to the artists,” she said.
Proceeds from the show go toward funding the gallery’s program that brings artists to the Peninsula during the summer, paying for studio and living space and creating opportunities for the public to engage with the artists through open studios, workshops, and other events.
“The work is absolutely wonderful. There’s something about the size of these pieces and the intimacy of the artists’ touch makes them irresistible,” shares gallery owner and artist, Goody-B Wiseman.
During the month-long event that begins on Nov. 22, the public can visit gallery b. in person or online to view hundreds of 5x7-inch works, all with fixed prices, from more than 60 artists. New works will be installed at the gallery and posted online each week.
Folded into this event is the local “10 x 8 Group” - eight artists offering 10 works in a larger format at a second fixed price.
The gallery is located at 5 Main Street in Castine, and is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Rising Tide highlights artistic endeavors from our community, and showcases them here in our “Create” section. If you have something you’d like to submit—a poem, a picture of a painting, a photograph, a music recording—send it to info@risingtide.media. We’d love to publish it and give you an audience for your creativity.
