Bagaduce Music’s Second Wednesday House Party

  • Baadue Music 49 South Street Blue Hill, ME, 04614 United States (map)

Bagaduce Music continues its popular Second Wednesday House Party series with Massachusetts-based duo Dearest Dear and a 7:00pm concert  in Blue Hill.

Rooted in New England’s rich folk traditions, Dearest Dear blends traditional tunes from Ireland, New England, Quebec, and France with luminous vocal harmonies that bring new life to centuries-old songs.

Fiddler Rose Jackson (Polaris, Stove Dragon) draws from the vibrant western Massachusetts folk scene, while Helen Kuhar (guitar, vocals, harmonium) is a familiar presence in Boston-area Irish sessions and contra dance halls nationwide. Together they weave stories, melodies, and lyrics that celebrate shared musical heritage and human connection.

In their Balfolk workshop, Rose and Helen will teach a balfolk tune or two as well as teach the corresponding dance. They will focus on specific aspects of the balfolk music style as well as how best to perform the tune so that they compliment and enhance the dance. By the end of the workshop, students will be able to play a set together fit for dancing! All are welcome to attend, with or without instruments.

Dinner will be available 6:00–7:15 pm from Conscious Café on campus.

Concert admission: Advanced tickets encouraged, $15-35 suggested. Tickets at the door when capacity allows.
