Cashes Ledge: Maine’s First National Marine Sanctuary
Cashes Ledge is 32-mile-long series of underwater mountains in 700-800 feet of water in the Gulf of Maine with the densest kelp forest on the eastern seaboard. It abounds in fish and other sea life, and has been called as “the Yellowstone of the North Atlantic.” Naturalist and marine conservationist Zack Klyver will share his experiences leading trips to the area to see whales, seabirds, dolphins and more. In July 2024, Conservation Law Foundation nominated Cashes as a National Marine Sanctuary. Everyone is welcomed.
