Join Sara Beth Casburn, from Jam Brook Farm in Searsmont, and the Stonington Public Library for a fun, educational workshop on visible mending on Saturday, June 13 from 10 am - 12 pm.

Mending is a way to keep your clothes alive and well-loved. Participants of all ages and experiences are encouraged to bring a project they would like to mend by hand. All the supplies you need are provided for this FREE workshop.

As a child, Sara Beth loved getting dressed. In high school, she began playing with clothes: cutting, resizing, and adding lace to thrifted pieces. There were no rules, just creativity. After college, she found herself working on vegetable farms, but missed the creative spark that clothing and sewing brought her. She dedicated her first winter off to making. She mended clothes for friends, sewed curtains, stitched by hand, and sharpened her knitting skills. She even started making her own garments using old clothes as patterns. In the winter of 2022, she and her husband settled into an old farmhouse. She finally had a whole room just for making and realized that this could be her work.
