DEER ISLE – Twenty-two Students at Deer Isle-Stonington High School will perform Thornton Wilder’s 1938 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Our Town at the Reach Performing Arts Center this Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7. Both shows are at 6:30 p.m.

In three acts, Our Town tells the story of a community in New Hampshire. The play is directed by John Lincoln, the school’s theater director.

“Act One is a day in the life of some of these folks in 1901. Act Two tells of love and marriage. Act Three jumps ahead to 1913; it deals with themes of death, loss, and the appreciation of life,” the school said in a release.

As with productions in years past, the school’s Stage Design class created the set for this weekend’s play. Eric Beachy, a teacher of industrial arts at the school, has a class of 10 students to help bring the production to life.

Between the stage crew, set designers, and performers, roughly one third of the school’s students are involved in the production, the release said.

All tickets are at the door by donation, and concessions will be available before the show, as well as during the two intermission periods.
