Snowy egrets nest on islands off the Maine coast and move inland during the post-breeding dispersal, sometimes coming to the Bagaduce, where you can often see them chasing prey in the water. Their yellowish-green feet, dark legs and bill, bright white plumage, and small size distinguish them from other birds.
