THE U-TURN: Poinsettia deliveries across peninsula bring on the holiday spirit
HOLIDAY CHEER: For the fifth year in a row, members of the Brooklin Garden Club are continuing their holiday tradition of giving poinsettias to families who participate in Healthy Peninsula's meal delivery program. Club members assembled and decorated 132 poinsettias for delivery on Dec. 1 along with soup and bread prepared by volunteers with the Simmering Pot. In addition to those in the meal delivery program, poinsettias were also delivered to patients and staff at Blue Hill Hospital, and to several local libraries. NICE PICK: Thanksgiving was barely in the rearview mirror when the rush was on to decorate for Christmas. John Clapp left, helps customer Matt Greany of Brooklin pic out a tree at Clapp’s Tree Farm in Blue Hill on Nov. 29. Photo by John Boit.
MASONIC MERRYMAKING: Masons from Penobscot’s Rising Star Lodge #4 decorated the town hall with holiday lights on Nov. 30. Photo courtesy of the Rising Star Lodge.
FOWLING AROUND: Just before Thanksgiving last week, someone dropped off this potato at the East Blue Hill Library. Perhaps it was simply overgrown—or perhaps it was stretching to turn itself into a turkey. Photo by Tricia Thomas.
