‘SMASH!’—Tom Allen of Penobscot knows a thing or two about lawn mowing. After all, he co-owns a landscaping business, Alleman, Inc., that does work for some 75 customers, mowing about 100 acres of lawn each week on the Blue Hill Peninsula. While cleaning up a yard on Aug. 23, the exuberant Allen came up with a new, more efficient way to mow. The lawnmower, he said, was destined for the trash heap anyway, with a busted engine, rusted deck and broken handle. Video by James Clarke.
