Maine voters can now request absentee ballots for election

Maine voters may now request absentee ballots for the November 3, 2026 General Election, the Maine Secretary of State’s Office announced.

Voters may request ballots online or by contacting their town or city clerk. Contactinformation for municipal clerks can be found on the Secretary of State website.

Maine’s “no-excuse” absentee voting laws — meaning no reason need be given to request a ballot — allows any registered voter to request a ballot three months before Election Day. Once requested, their ballot will be issued by their municipal clerks beginning 30 days prior to Election Day. Once a ballot request is submitted, Maine voters can track the process of that request and their ballot online.

All absentee ballots for the upcoming General Election must be received by a voter’s municipality by 8 p.m. on November 3, 2026.
