BUCKSPORT—The Town of Bucksport announced this week that it will begin implementing a new annual Transfer Station sticker requirement beginning in fiscal year 2027. Officials say the change will help offset rising solid waste disposal costs and ensure the facility is used by current residents, according to a press release,
All users must display a valid sticker, which will expire each year on June 30, the release said. The annual cost will be $20. Starting July 1, residents can obtain a sticker at the Town Office or at the Transfer Station by providing proof of residency. Officials recommend placing the sticker “placed inside the vehicle on the lower driver's side of the rear window” for “best visibility,” according to the release.
The changes also include new limits on who can use the facility, the release said. Access will be restricted primarily to residential users, and “contractors and other commercial entities will no longer be permitted to use the facility,” the release said. Bucksport-based small businesses may continue to use the Transfer Station under updated guidelines.
Town officials remain committed to maintaining reliable and cost-effective services for residents and “appreciate residents’ cooperation as the new system is rolled out,” the release said.
