LifeFlight called after East Blue Hill crash injures three juveniles

EAST BLUE HILL—Three people were injured when their vehicle hit a tree at the intersection of East Blue Hill Road and York Road on Nov. 14, with one requiring transport by helicopter to a Bangor hospital.

The one-vehicle accident, which occurred shortly after 9 p.m., trapped two of the three inside the car. One of the three sustained “severe” injuries, and was later flown by LifeFlight of Maine to a Bangor hospital, said Blue Hill fire chief John Chapman.

Chapman said that one of the accident victims was already out of the car and walking around when first responders arrived on the scene. The two others were trapped inside the vehicle, a Hyundai SUV, but were extricated within 18 minutes, Chapman said.

All three, who have not been identified but are described as “juveniles” by law enforcement and “youthful” but “of legal driving age” by Chapman, were taken to Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital, with one later taken to an unnamed Bangor hospital by helicopter.

About 20 first responders, from Blue Hill, Surry, Sedgwick, Bucksport and Peninsula Ambulance Corps were on-scene, as was the Hancock County Sheriff, assisted by the Maine State Police, Chapman said. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
