BLUE HILL–The Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and the Tree of Life Food Pantry are joining forces to make sure no one in the community goes without a warm meal or friendly company this Thanksgiving.
The organizations will host a pay-what-you-can community Thanksgiving dinner at The Farmhouse in Blue Hill on Thanksgiving Day, according to a press release. The event will have two seatings, one at 11 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. Guests will enjoy a traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings, and pie for dessert.
All are welcome to attend. Reservations are required, as seating is limited. To reserve a spot, or to learn how to help, call (207) 669-2525.
The event is “a celebration of gratitude, generosity, and the spirit of helping one another,” the release says. “At a time when many are feeling the strain of rising food costs and uncertainty, the pay-what-you-can model ensures that everyone—regardless of financial situation—can share in the warmth and joy of the season.”
“Thanksgiving is about community,” said Ann Rioux, president of the Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. “We wanted to create a space where everyone feels welcome, and no one eats alone.”
The meal will be prepared and served by local volunteers, with ingredients and supplies donated by area businesses and residents. Guests are invited to bring non-perishable food items on the day of the event, which will be donated to the Tree of Life Food Pantry to help local families in need.
All proceeds from the dinner will benefit both the Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and the Tree of Life Food Pantry, helping to support their shared mission of strengthening and nourishing the community.
Volunteers and food donations are still needed to help make the dinner a success. Individuals and organizations that can help by contributing time, money, or food items are encouraged to contact Ann Rioux at (207) 669-2525 to learn how to help.
