Meet the artist behind every Blue Hill Fair poster for the last 20 years
This year’s poster by Megan Granger is inspired by rescue horses

BLUE HILL—Twenty years. Twenty posters. Twenty different stories.
That’s the legacy of Blue Hill artist Megan Granger, who has created the official poster of the Blue Hill Fair for the past two decades.
Granger grew up on a farm in Blue Hill, where she took an interest in art. While she is now the school counselor at the Blue Hill Consolidated School, she still enjoys taking time to research and create the Blue Hill Fair’s poster every year.
“I try to start with a subject that is inspiring to me. And then I just go and study,” Granger said. “I like to study things that are alive.”
Each year, Granger finds an animal that speaks to her, spending time capturing its essence and beauty, while learning its story. This year, she visited the Bagaduce River Equine Rescue in Brooksville to study rescue horses, the theme of this year’s poster.

Granger spends countless hours working on her pieces, incorporating the animal's story alongside elements of Blue Hill and Blue Hill Mountain. In the past, Granger has painted highland cows, goats, geese, and rabbits.
Reflecting on the 20-year milestone, Granger, who is married to Hancock County District Attorney Bob Granger, said it’s hard to believe it’s been two decades since the first conversation with Rob Eaton, the former Blue Hill Fair association president, about creating a poster for the fair.
This year's “down to earth”country fair runs Sept. 3-7. Copies of the annual commemorative poster will be available for purchase at the fair, located in front of the exhibit animals. Fairgoers are encouraged to stop by the craft exhibit hall to view all the posters from previous years.
