DEER ISLE—Samuel Robbins, a senior at Deer Isle-Stonington High School, has been named the statewide winner of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizens Scholarship Contest.

The DAR Good Citizens Award recognizes outstanding high school seniors who exemplify the four pillars of good citizenship: dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Students are nominated by their schools and evaluated through a rigorous selection process at the chapter, state and national levels. Robbins was selected as the top honoree, a distinction awarded to only one student each year.

“Samuel has distinguished himself through his academic achievements, commitment to his community, and strong character,” the school said in a press release. “His dedication to service and leadership, along with his deep sense of patriotism, made him a standout candidate among his peers.”

The award ceremony was held in Portland on March 28. At the event, Robbins, who lives in Stonington, was presented with a certificate, a commemorative pin, and a $500 scholarship.

The DAR Good Citizens program encourages and rewards the qualities of good citizenship in students across the country, highlighting those who demonstrate excellence in the classroom and in their communities.
