Hot days, waiting dogs cause concerns

Arrest and incident reports are collected from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the Bucksport Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies. Arrests are not convictions, and all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Bucksport

A lost wallet was reported on June 28.

On June 28, an “animal problem” was reported at the school, the report said.

A neighbor dispute was reported on June 29.

Abigail Wilson, 18, of Bucksport swerved left to avoid a deer in the roadway on June 29. The vehicle crossed the center line and struck a guardrail. No injuries were reported.

A resident reported a fraud attempt on June 29.

An assault was reported on June 29.

On June 29, a woman was found laying in the roadway.

A female resident filed a harassment report on June 29.

On June 30, a person witnessed an accident involving a bicyclist and a vehicle. The vehicle left the scene.

A male reported seeing “someone on his property” through his security cameras on June 30, the report said.

Keys were found on June 30.

Police received an erratic driver complaint on June 30.

On June 30, drug paraphernalia was found stuffed into a retaining wall.

Deputy Police Chief David Winchester assisted with a forensic interview on July 1.

A resident requested assistance after being “trapped on their second story back porch” on July 1, the report said.

An individual reported a dog left in a “not running” vehicle in the Hannaford parking lot on July 2, the report said. Deputy Police Chief David Winchester spoke to the individual involved; no charges were filed.

A dog in a car was reported on July 2. Officers determined that it was not left for long and the vehicle soon left.

Gerald Curtis, 78, of Bucksport, was traveling southbound on River Road with Elsie Curtis, 74, of Bucksport, when his vehicle struck a deer in the roadway on July 2. The car sustained damage but no injuries were reported.

Officers received a report of a dog left in a car on July 2. The air conditioning was on.

According to the report, a resident told officers that a Male "dressed in camo” was trying to break into her garage on July 2. The claim was determined to be unfounded.

Patrol officer Matt Schmidt responded to a report of someone shining a spotlight on July 3.

On July 3, an incident involving an unruly neighbor was reported.

A resident reported that a neighbor’s mental health issues were creating safety concerns on July 3.

Noelle Connolly, 27, of Orrington, received a citation for failure to present evidence of insurance on July 4.

An individual found damage to a vehicle parked on a public roadway on July 4.

Sean McCourt, 22, of Brownville, received a citation for operating with a suspended license on July 4.

Izaiha Larock, 21, of Ripley, was summonsed for “permitting unlawful use” on July 4, the report said.

According to the report, a suspicious person was seen “hollering at traffic” on July 4.

Timothy Peaslee, 54, of Whitefield received a citation on July 3 for failure to produce evidence of insurance.

Castine

Sergeant Robert Morang assisted during an animal control incident on July 2.

Deer Isle

Deputy Devin Grindle received a request to check the well being of a resident on June 30. The individual was “all set” and did not need any assistance, the report said.

Orland

Jason Levandoski, 34, of Orland was summonsed for theft on July 2. The stolen item was returned to its owner.

Verona

On July 2, Sergeant Robert Morang received a motor vehicle complaint of poor driving. The incident is under investigation.
