Trio of thefts under investigation

Arrest and incident reports are collected from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the Bucksport Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies. Arrests are not convictions, and all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Blue Hill

Sergeant Travis Frost located Andrew Brages, 49, in a local residence on Oct. 3. Brages had an active arrest warrant and he was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Hancock County Jail.

Bucksport

Officer Amanda Loeven provided assistance to a motorist on Sept. 27.

Travis Kepner, 39, of Holden, received a citation for failure to display a valid inspection sticker on Sept. 27. 

On Sept. 27, a smart ring was found at the post office.

Officer Robert Findlay assisted a weapons offense investigation on Sept. 27

Casey Spofford, 44, of Stonington, was traveling north on River Road when a deer entered the roadway on Sept. 28. Spofford struck the deer and his vehicle was towed.

Mickey Gross, 50, of Bucksport, was traveling north on Millvale Road when a dog ran into the road on Sept. 27. The owner was notified. No human injuries were reported.

A suspicious vehicle at a local business reported on Sept. 28.

On Sept. 28 a female reported concerns about someone driving that shouldn’t be, according to police.

A suspicious car at a residence was reported on Sept. 28.

Seth Jerome, 25, of Bucksport, was arrested on weapons charges on Green Road on Sept. 28.

A dog was killed by a motor vehicle on Sept. 28. The driver left the scene.

Officer Jesse Dow received a mental illness complaint on Sept. 29.

An abandoned cat was found on Sept. 29.

Officer Matt Schmidt responded to a juvenile complaint at the high school on Sept. 29.

A late hit and run incident was reported on Sept. 29.

On Sept. 29, Stephen St. Peter, 73, of Bucksport was stopped at the intersection of Williams Pond and Milivale Road when Jeffry Fitch, 69, of Penobscot, attempted to navigate a sharp left turn from Milivale Road onto Williams Pond Road. St. Peter did not see Fitch until his vehicle started to pull into the flow of traffic. St. Peter’s car struck Fitch’s car. No injuries were reported.

A large yellow lab was found on Sept. 29. It was later returned to its owner.

An assault reported on Sept. 29 is currently under investigation.

The Maine State Police requested assistance in conducting a well-being check on an individual on Verona Island after that person was heard making concerning statements on Sept. 29. The subject was found safe.

On Sept. 29, a caller reported a possible baby fox that had been struck by a vehicle. The individual said the fox went into the woods. Officers were unable to locate the fox.

A reported theft on Sept. 29 is currently under investigation.

“Paraphenalia” was found and disposed of one Sept. 30, the report said.

Multiple callers reported a loose dog on Sept. 30. The dog returned to its owner.

An erratic motor vehicle complaint was filed on Sept. 30.

On Sept. 30, Alexander Hatch, 19, of Bucksport, was summonsed for operating after suspension on Miles Lane.

A male completed a sex offender registration on Oct. 1.

A male resident reported ongoing harassment on Oct. 1.

A hit and run that resulted in minor damage was reported on Oct. 1. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 1, a resident reported threatening text messages from a male in Texas.

A female reported that someone had sideswiped her vehicle on Oct. 2.

A male was found sleeping on the waterfront on Oct. 2.

On Oct. 2, a caller reported hearing a single gunshot just north of their residence. Officers “found nothing” in the area, the report said.

On Oct. 2, a caller reported seeing a man with a warrant out walking.

A suspicious male was seen walking around businesses on Oct. 2.

Multiple thefts were reported on Oct. 3. All incidents are under investigation and charges are pending.

A loose dog was returned to its owner on Oct. 3.

Officers assisted the Fire Department with a vehicle fire on Oct. 3. No injuries were reported.

Surry

Deputies Dylan Pung and Devin Grindle responded to a single vehicle roll over crash on Oct. 1. They assisted the State Police and Surry Fire Department on scene.
