Connection Between Hearing Loss & Dementia (Zoom)

The word “dementia “ can send shivers up the spines of people as they age and realize there is as yet no cure for it.

Research has noted a link between dementia and hearing loss.  In 2011, Dr. Frank Lin of John Hopkins University became the first to conduct landmark studies of the possible link between the two. Several follow up studies have corroborated Dr. Lin’s findings.

The Downeast Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is sponsoring a Zoom presentation by Dr. James A. B. Wilson in his specialized field of preventing dementia in people with hearing loss.  Dr. Wilson has authored two books on the subject :

  • PRESERVING THE ETCHINGS OF THE MIND: Aging, Dementia and Hearing Loss

  • BRIDGE OF TIME: Caregivers and Care Receivers  with Hearing Loss in Alzheimer’s and Dementia

To access Dr. Wilson’s Zoom presentation on Thursday, May 21 at 7:00 PM, send an email to info@hearinglossmaine.org.
