Penobscot Historical Society Annual Maine Trivia Night

  • Penobscot United Methodist Church 14 Southern Bay Road Penobscot, Maine, 04476 United States (map)

The Penobscot Historical Society is excited to announce its upcoming Maine Trivia Night, an evening dedicated to celebrating the rich history, culture, and quirky facts about Penobscot and the rest of the Pine Tree State. The event will take place on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 7:00 PM in the Penobscot Methodist Church Social Hall.

This lively evening invites participants to test their knowledge of Penobscot’s past and present. The actual categories are kept secret but can range from maritime legends and famous Mainers to local landmarks and traditions.

“This annual event is both educational and fun,” said Elaine Gerard, President of the Penobscot Historical Society. “It’s a chance for neighbors to come together, share laughs, and maybe learn something new about the place we call home.”

Patty Hutchins, past director of the Wilson Museum in Castine, develops new categories and questions each year and is the host and moderator for the game.

The evening will feature:
• Two-team Jeopardy style contest covering a wide range of categories relating to Penobscot and other Maine topics. Participants work together to come up with their answers to multiple choice questions.
• Light refreshments
• Prizes and bragging rights
• Opportunity to explore the benefits of becoming a historical society member

This free event is open to the public. Donations received support the Society’s ongoing mission to preserve and share Penobscot’s history through educational programs, exhibits, and community outreach.
