THE U-TURN: Super Bowl champion and a wicked full moon pic

TEAM CHAMP—Avery MacNair, 15, of Penobscot, attended the Super Bowl in California with his brother Skylar on Feb. 8. While the Patriots seemed to forget they were favored to win, the day still had one champion in Avery (right) who has successfully battled a rare form of leukemia. The trip was sponsored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Meanwhile, back in Penobscot, the crew at Northern Bay Market, owned by Avery’s mother, made more than 50 pizzas for locals for the game and raised money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In the back row are Elizabeth Hutchins, Casey McGraw, Tammy Brouty, Krisy Emerton and Sally Austin, while in the front row are Theo Tozier and his mom, Natalie Gray.

BRIGHT NIGHT—Blue Hill Mountain shows up clear as a bell in this photo taken by Ebru Yalman from her home in Penobscot looking across Northern Bay.
