We are currently in full swing of archery, firearm, and trapping season in Maine. Blue Hill Heritage Trust (BHHT) is proud to offer hunting opportunities on most of our properties across the peninsula. These lands support both recreational and traditional use, and we greatly appreciate the hunters and hikers who help us maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
Blue Hill Heritage Trust lands are enjoyed by many people for a wide variety of outdoor activities—from hiking and dog walking to hunting and wildlife watching. During hunting season, it's especially important for all users to stay alert and respectful of the different ways in which people use BHHT's properties.
Please remember that annual registration is required for hunting and fishing on BHHT-owned lands. Registration is quick and easy and can be completed through our website, by calling our office at 207-374-5118, or by stopping in and visiting us at 157 Hinckley Ridge Road, Blue Hill. Please note that hunting and fishing access on conservation easement lands requires permission directly from the landowner.
To help ensure a positive experience for everyone, please keep the following in mind:
Respect property and equipment. Please do not touch anyone’s game cameras or tree stands. If you have concerns, please contact BHHT directly.
Wear blaze orange. Whether you're hunting or hiking, high visibility clothing helps keep everyone safe.
Don't forget your dog! Dogs should also wear blaze orange if they’re accompanying you on the trails.
Plan your outings. Hunting is not permitted in Maine on Sundays, making it a great day to get out for a hike during the fall season.
BHHT is grateful to all who use our lands responsibly and help ensure they remain safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone. For more information on hunting rules, safety guidelines, and registration, please visit BHHT’s website.
