Sedgwick hit-and-run under investigation

SEDGWICK—The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a June 28 hit-and-run incident in Sedgwick. A pedestrian was struck while walking on North Sedgwick Road, near Anderson Builders. The vehicle involved in the incident was not on scene when emergency responders arrived.
The pedestrian sustained non life-threatening injuries and was transported to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital for treatment. State and local officials have not released the name of the victim.
In an interview with The Rising Tide, Sedgwick Volunteer Fire Department fire chief David Carter said that his department assisted with traffic control and transport.
HCSO said in a release that the incident remains under investigation at this time. Due to the ongoing nature of the case, the release said, no additional information will be provided by authorities at this time.
