Car vs. bike

Arrest and incident reports are collected from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the Bucksport Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies. Arrests are not convictions, and all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Bucksport

Brock Hanscom, 19, of Bucksport, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief on Sept. 13 after causing damage to town infrastructure, according to police.

A wallet was found by the boat landing at Silver Lake on Sept. 13. It was returned to the owner.

A dead deer was found in a ditch on Sept. 13.

Officer Chris Sargent fielded a trespassing complaint on Sept. 13.

A fraud complaint was filed on Sept. 14 but it was determined to not be within the police department’s jurisdiction.

A low hanging telephone wire or cable was reported on Sept. 15.

On Sept. 15, a male reported his wife missing.

Officer Dan Harlan received a report of a possible road rage incident on Sept. 15.

A male requested a mental health evaluation for his wife on Sept. 15.

A female driver struck a bicycle and rider on Sept. 15 as she was pulling out. No injuries or damage was reported.

Desiree Coombs, 23, of Orland, was traveling southbound on River Road when she struck a deer on Sept. 16. No injuries were reported but the vehicle was towed.

A lost backpack was returned to its owner on Sept. 16.

On Sept. 16, a female reported someone trying to remove a manhole cover.

An erratic vehicle was reported on River Road on Sept 17.

Paperwork was reported stolen from a female’s vehicle on Sept. 17.

“Kids on e-bikes were not obeying traffic rules” on Sept. 17, the report said.

An incident involving a missing e-bike on Sept. 17 is under investigation.

A female reported a truck in the middle of the road and “the operator not acting right” on Sept. 17, the report said. Charges are pending.

An abandoned silver minivan with flashers on was found on Sept. 17.

On Sept. 17, Valerie Hovey-Colby, 49, of Bucksport, was arrested for violating conditions of release, according to police.

A resident reported a dog bite at a neighbor's house on Sept. 18.

An underage male and female were seen “intoxicated” and “stumbling” on Elm Street on Sept. 18, the report said.

Brock Hanscom, 19, of Bucksport, was arrested on Sept. 18 and charged with assault, disorderly conduct, and refusing to submit to arrest, according to police.

An intoxicated female was found lying in a parking lot on Sept. 19. Officer Jesse Down brought her home.

Daniel McFarland, 26, of Dedham, received a citation for speeding on Sept. 19.

Officer Amanda Loeven located a possible campsite on Sept. 19.

A bicyclist was hanging onto a friend’s car before they fell off the bicycle on Sept. 19. Minor injuries were reported.

Deer Isle

Deputies responded to a report of an out of control juvenile on Sept. 21, according to police. The individual was calm when deputies arrived and was later transported to the hospital by their guardian. No law enforcement action was taken.

Orland
Deputy Mariza Gionfriddo received a report of a suspicious individual on a dead-end road on Sept. 19. The complainant said the individual claimed to be with a cell phone company and was checking signals. Deputy Gionfriddo was unable to locate the individual.
