Stonington Public Library, in conjunction with the Northport Arts Coalition in Northport, N.Y., welcomes Maine poet Donna Smith for an evening reading on Friday, June 26, from 6–7:30 p.m. Donna—whose love of poetry began with bedtime readings of Robert Louis Stevenson—has spent years writing and teaching poetry in elementary schools, publishing in children’s anthologies and online, and releasing several books, including Poems with Obscure Words from A to Z, It’s All About the Little Things, and It’s in Our Nature. She will share selections from her work, along with some of her watercolors, photographs, and drawings; Donna writes, paints, and plays ukulele on the Maine coast, where she lives with her two dogs and a cat. The event will be held in person at the library and on Zoom (link available at stonington.lib.me.us), with refreshments provided by the Northport Arts Coalition; for more information, call 207-367-5926 or email stonington.public.library@gmail.com.
