Stonington Six Road Race
Celebrate the Fourth of July and support the Island Community Center during the annual Stonington 6 road race. The Stonington 6 departs from the Community Center parking lot on the morning of July 4th. Participants will run/walk/stroll through a 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) course. A one-mile “Fun Run” is also offered and great for younger or older participants. Registration includes a t-shirt and benefits the Island Community Center. Register here.

Flash! In the Pans Community Pan Dance
Three crack of a cowbell and the music erupts. Join us for Music, Dancing, Food Trucks and Socializing.
Monday evenings 7:30pm to 9pm, from Memorial Day through Labor Day at Blue Hill town park and various locations throughout Downeast Maine.
Community pan dances are free. Donations are collect to benefit various local charities.

PhotoVoice Student Photo Exhibit
Project Launch has teamed up with Photovoice Worldwide to to offer an exciting new documentary photography workshop for high school students. Using photography, research and narrative, students dug in to the question "What makes our community special and what challenges does it face?" Time was spent in work sessions and in the field doing research, capturing images and crafting stories. The result is an impressive array of images and storytelling that gives voice to their experiences.
Fairy Garden Tea Party
Island Community Center is hosting a Fairy Garden Tea Party, and you’re invited to step into a little world of magic! Sip & Snack: Enjoy freshly brewed fruit tea and sweet refreshments while we share a whimsical fairy tale. Create some magic!! After story time, we’ll head out to our own garden patch to build a tiny fairy village—complete with all the charm and sparkle your imagination can dream up! All materials are provided. It’s the perfect blend of creativity, nature, and a sprinkle of fairy dust.

Deer Isle Adult Education: Intro to Blacksmithing
Join Eric Beachy for an intro to metalwork! In this 6-session course you'll learn the basics of blacksmithing and forge your own marvelous creations. From useful hooks to zany sculptures; whatever takes your fancy. Forge time and tools included, large materials for grander projects are at students' discretion. The shop may have scrap metal on hand, but you can also up-cycle your own. This class is for ages 16 and up, or by permission of the director.

To keep the calendar useful and readable, we don’t post regularly recurring events (for example, an ongoing fitness class or month-long shows), but we do welcome special sessions, series kickoffs, and standalone workshops.
