Join a group of Downeast singer songwriters who would like to meet and share ideas and original songs to collaborate and learn from each other to foster the capacity to craft, collaborate on, and share songs across Maine’s Down East communities and out to the wider world.
The plan is to meet every other Tuesday from 4-6pm starting on 6/30 at the Rockbound Chapel , 734 Reach Road in Brooklin 04616. $2-5 donation for use of venue suggested.
Here is the Typical Structure / SongCrafters Meet-Up:
1. Songwriters sit in a circle or semicircle
• Each has their instrument or voice!
The emphasis is on the song/poem/idea and the story behind it or what writer wants help with or wants to focus on.
2. The writers take turns
• Each writer plays one song/ snippet, idea etc.
• The rotation continues throughout the evening.
3. Stories are as important as the songs
• How the song was written / Experiences connected to it
• What inspired it
• Who they wrote it with
• If recorded, How it was recorded
4. Feedback given by other members of group
Assistance with phrasing, chord changes, melody, lyrics, overall message/feeling etc.
