Friend Memorial 5k Fun Run
Lace up those sneakers and come on down to the Friend Memorial Public Library in Brooklin for a 5k fun run on Saturday 7/18 at 8 a.m. The route will run from the library to the Wooden Boat campus and back. Visit our website for more information. Sign ups will begin at 7:30 a.m. on race day; the first 50 runners will get a free swag bag!
Movie Night at the Brooklin General Store with Friend Memorial Public Library
Join us for another Friend Memorial Public Library movie night, which will be hosted by the Brooklin General Store (4 Reach Road) on Saturday 7/18 at 8:30 p.m. This month we will be showing Point Break, a movie about surfer burglars starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. Food and refreshments will be provided; free and open to all!

Ninth Annual Cakes and Authors Event
Stop by the Friend Memorial Public Library in Brooklin (1 Reach Road) for our 9th annual Cakes and Authors event, hosted on Thursday 7/9 from 1 to 3 p.m. A celebration of our patrons, six local Maine authors will be selling books and there will be many kinds of cake! Music from jazz pianist Scott Cleveland will accompany the event, along with free books, children’s crafts, and our popular free raffle.
Building Bee Boxes
Learn how to make native bee boxes on the Town Green with the Brooklin Food Corps after Brooklin’s classic Independence Day parade. An updated 2026 guide to local farmers and other producers (with a map!) will be distributed. Free and appropriate for all ages!

Author Talk with Jane Goodrich
Leaf & Anna and Friend Memorial Public Library will host an exclusive early launch for Jane Goodrich’s new historical novel, The Seraph, in Brooklin on June 12. The event begins at 4 p.m. with an author talk and presentation at the library, followed by a book signing and reception at Leaf & Anna. Attendees will get a first look at the story behind the novel, including historical photos that inspired it, and can purchase signed copies of The Seraph—a follow-up to Goodrich’s bestselling The House at Lobster Cove—at both Leaf & Anna locations afterward.
