Everyone is invited to join us on Thursday, October 1 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the library's Howard Room for an art reception of a tape art mural created by peninsula students with the guidance of artists Michael Townsend and Leah Smith. This will coincide with the Friends of the Library Annual Volunteer Appreciation, where the Friends will award the Elvira Bass Volunteer Award, given annually to a volunteer in recognition of their hard work and dedication. President of the Friends, Ann Pladson, will speak and announce the award winner at 6:00 p.m. in the Howard Room. Come see the creativity of our community on the walls of the library and celebrate our volunteers, while enjoying sweet and savory snacks and refreshments. 

In honor of their efforts, volunteers in attendance will have the opportunity to sign special book plates that will be displayed inside new books entering the library's collection. 

The reception will be followed by a presentation and slideshow with Michael and Leah, who will share their experiences with tape art and answer questions.
