Monarchs: Maine to Mexico presented by Leslie Clapp

  • St Francis by the Sea Episcopal Church 330 Hinckley Ridge Road Blue Hill, Maine, 04614 United States (map)

Brooklin Garden Club’s August program by local naturalist, Leslie Clapp, will explore the incredible journey from Maine to Mexico…and back of the Monarch Butterfly. This photographic presentation will follow the Monarch Butterfly as it begins its life as a tiny egg on a milkweed plant in Maine, develops into a caterpillar, spends two weeks as a chrysalis, then emerges as a gorgeous adult that migrates all the way to Mexico for the winter. Experience what it is like to stand in the middle of a fir forest outside Mexico City, surrounded by millions of Monarchs just before they finally make their way back to the United States in the spring where they start the cycle of life once again.
