Officials search for East Blue Hill man

Multiple agencies search by land, sea and air

BLUE HILL - An East Blue Hill man reported missing has yet to be found, according to a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Marine Resources.

Authorities from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office were asked to conduct a wellness check on James Kannry, 82, on Sept. 20. Kannry lives on Webber Cove Lane in East Blue Hill

Because Kannry has several boats, DMR officers were called in to search his vessels, which were moored in front of his Webber Cove Lane residence

Kannry’s skiff was tied to a larger boat owned by him in the cove so “it is likely that was the last place he was, but there’s nothing to confirm that,” said Lt. Dakota Dupuis of the sheriff’s office.

The state’s Underwater Recovery Dive Team searched the water on Sunday, Sept. 20, including with the use of a remotely operated vehicle in the cove.

The next day, Sept. 21, marine patrol officers searched the area from the air, water, and shoreline.The Maine Warden Service K9 team also searched the area near Kannry’s property. The Hancock Sheriff's Office conducted a search by drone as well.

Officials continued  the search this week. Because of the impending nor’easter arriving in the area, search efforts are not planned over the weekend, according to DMR.
