Food for Health Program

  • The Grand 165 West Main Street Ellsworth, ME, 04605 United States (map)

FarmDrop and partners Healthy Island Project and Healthy Acadia will host an evening of music, community, and purpose at The Grand in Ellsworth, featuring a live performance by The Soulbenders to benefit the Food for Health program. The night is designed as a lively, dance-filled celebration with just a few brief remarks from partner organizations, keeping the focus on great music, shared energy, and collective impact.

Food for Health uses FarmDrop’s existing online ordering and distribution system to make it easier for food security organizations to source discounted or free food from multiple local farms, ensuring that fresh, nutritious food reaches neighbors who need it most. At the heart of the program is a revolving community fund that purchases food from farms for donation, fueled by customer contributions at checkout and a Buy One, Donate One model that supports both farm viability and food access.

The concert also marks 15 years of FarmDrop’s work connecting farmers, families, and communities; since its formal launch in 2025, Food for Health has already distributed more than 1,100 pounds of food from 15 farms, providing thousands of servings through partner organizations. Attendees are invited to come dance for food security, help grow the revolving fund, and be part of expanding farm-to-table access to more neighbors across Maine.
